Welcome to the Empire State Railway Museum!
Located in the heart of the beautiful Catskill Mountains of upstate New York State, the Empire State Railway Museum is dedicated to preserving the historic Ulster & Delaware Railroad and its classic 1899 Phoenicia Junction railroad station as tourist attractions for our area. Our mission includes keeping the history of the area railroads alive along while telling the story of the people and towns they served throughout the Catskills and the Hudson Valley region. Enjoy our continuously changing exhibits of local history inside our beautifully restored station. ESRM is open to the public weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through October.
New for 2013
Enjoy our 7.25" Ride-On Train!
Fun rides for railfans of all ages! The newest addition to our museum complex is the Catskill Mountain Live Steamers, our 7.25" gauge live ride-on train, powered by either our model diesel or live steam locomotive. Tickets are $3.00 each and small children must have a parent accompany them. Hours are 11:00 a.m. until museum close.
Due to storm damage from Hurricane Irene, all trains now depart from nearby Mt. Tremper station on Route 28. (Trains cannot return to Phoenicia until Ulster County releases the FEMA funds.) Trains operate May through October. Visit the CMRR web site for details.
