Welcome to the Empire State Railway Museum!
70 Lower High St, Phoenicia, NY 12464
Located in the heart of the beautiful Catskill Mountains of upstate New York State, the Empire State Railway Museum is dedicated to preserving the historic Ulster & Delaware Railroad and its classic 1899 Phoenicia Junction railroad station as tourist attractions for our area. Our mission includes keeping the history of the area railroads alive along while telling the story of the people and towns they served throughout the Catskills and the Hudson Valley region. Enjoy our display of railroad artifacts, continuously changing exhibits, and frequent talks of local history inside our beautifully restored station. ESRM is open to the public weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through October from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
Take a ride on our Mini Train!
Fun rides on our miniature railroad are available at mid-day whenever we are open. And like the museum itself, the MiniTrain is available for parties and charters.
Take a ride on the Catskill Mountain Railroad
Despite the fact that Ulster County has frozen $2.3 million in FEMA funds to restore the damage to the CMRR inflicted by Hurrcane Irene in 2011, the railroad is taking steps towards making the repairs to the track out of pocket. They are making great progress and we look forward to announcing their return later this season! In the meantime, their trains are departing from nearby Mt. Tremper station.
